The Center for Contemporary Art – Prilep (CSLU-Prilep) began in 1957, when the city hosted its first International Painting Colony, one of the oldest visual art colonies in Southeastern Europe.
 

Since then, CSLU-Prilep has stood as a symbol of continuous artistic creation and international cooperation. Over the decades, it has initiated and nurtured a wide range of international workshops and studios for creative expression in various materials and forms — including painting, printmaking, marble, metal, wood, ceramics, sculpture, mosaic, stained glass, photography, mail art, street art, body painting, and digital art (NFT).
 

In its 68 years of uninterrupted activity, CSLU has collected over 1,200 original works of art created by artists from more than 50 countries.
 

Each artwork is a contribution to the living cultural heritage of North Macedonia, and a chapter in a larger, global artistic dialogue.
 

The center remains dedicated to encouraging socially engaged artistic practices that reflect current moments in society and culture. By embracing new art trends, media, and styles, CSLU continues to open space for meaningful visual expression and innovation, preserving the freedom of creativity while nurturing the excellence of artistic work.
